President of Estonia Mr. Toomas Hendrik Ilves

Dear Mister President,

Recently Russia has activated the campaign against the Estonian state and the Estonian people. The leadership of the Kremlin has inspired the boycott of the Estonian goods and taken other actions of the economical pressure against Estonia. The high representatives of the Russian state authorities are making the aggressive political declarations menacing Estonia with the “complication of the relations”. In Russia is launched a prevocational campaign in order to blackmail the Estonian people and its national values. Moscow is accusing the Estonian people to act as “fascists”, and to carry on the acts of “the blasphemy” and “the vandalism”. In its anti-popular provocation Russia is using as well the representatives of the Russian minority which live on the Estonian territory. The whole world has seen how they had organized the pogroms in the center of Tallinn and in other cities of Estonia. The Russian vandals have damaged and destroyed some monuments of the Estonian heroes which fought against the Russian aggression in 1918 and 1940s. Only thanks to the professional actions of the Estonian police and the adequate conduct of the Estonian society the authorities have set up the order in the country.

Thus Moscow tries to intimidate the Estonian people and the leadership of Estonia. The dismantling of the Soviet monument and the removal of this monument to the military cemetery in Tallinn served only as a pretext to Russia in order to start the aggressive actions against Estonia. It is known that the remains of millions of victims of the communist repressions and the wars are not buried. They lie in the forests and on the fields in the whole Russia. Many tombs are abandoned and destroyed. This shameful fact doesn’t worry the leaders of Russia and the Russian society. Namely Russia represents the example of the barbarian attitude to the tombs of the victims. In accordance with the order from Moscow the pro-Russian regime tried several times to destroy the people’s monuments on the tombs of the victims of the Russian communist occupation in Belarus: in Kurapaty near Minsk and in other places. But the Belarusan people has defended its sacred places.

The monuments of the Soviet epoch are reflecting the inhuman communist illusions. In the countries liberated from the Russian occupation the majority of the communist monuments have been dismantled as the symbols of the occupation regime. The Estonian people has right to determine itself its attitude to the esthetic of the Russian totalitarianism.

The anti-Estonian provocation of Moscow is a part of the imperialist policy of Kremlin against the independent states. The Russian military aggression in Georgia and Moldova, its strivings to liquidate the Belarusan state and to occupy our territory, the crazy campaign of the russification and assimilation as well as the subordination of the Belarusan army to the Russian military strategy and the aggressive policy against the Baltic states testify the reluctance of Russia to coexist peacefully with its neighbours. Undoubtedly the Kremlin’s leadership is interested to provoke a confrontation with the European countries. The real object of the aggressive actions by Russia is not its concern for the bronze sculpture. Moscow is trying to secure the third presidential term for Mr. Putin. Namely that is why the Kremlin is forcing artificially the international tension and carrying on the demagogical brain-washing of the Russian population which the Russian leadership is searching the new enemies for.

We express our support to the political leadership of Estonia and to the Estonian people which are defending the sovereignty and the independence of their State against the imperialist provocations of Moscow.
